- Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites for Concrete Bridge Repair
The first half of this activity introduces participants to structural repair of damaged and/or deteriorated concrete bridge members (beams, slabs, walls, ect.) using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. The second half of this activity is “hands on” where participants are introduced to the material handling, preparation, and application on a model of a prestressed concrete AASHTO girder. A special feature of this activity is the rapid and temporary repair of impacted concrete bridge beams using glass FRP (GFRP) fabric and the long-term repair using CFRP fabric and rods.
