Decision Support Systems

The newly-renamed “Decision Support Systems” has been generating a broad range of policy-based research at the Kentucky Transportation Center for the public infrastructure community over the past 15 years.  We deliver leading peer-reviewed research and project outcomes regarding the integration of citizen input with important questions about the condition of the highway system, public transportation, safety and roadway design, major bridge design, roadway and utility planning and routing, transit system design, and other public sector issues such as nuclear remediation.  Our clients include state and local transportation and planning agencies from around the country, and national research  agencies such as Federal Highways Administration,  Federal Transit Administration, National Academy of Science, National Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, and international clients. Our work has been presented to, and  published across, multiple public infrastructure disciplines , including the Transportation Research Record, the Environment and Planning, Annals of the Association of American Geographers, Advances in Transportation Studies, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences,  American Institute of Certified Planners, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Power Systems Transmission and Distribution, RealCorp 2007 and preceding, ESRI Proceedings, and others.  An overview of our internationally-known Structured Public Involvement™ protocol can be reviewed at http://spi.uky.edu/.
