Freight and Logistics

The Freight and Logistics, located within the intermodal area of focus, is the newest program area at the Kentucky Transportation Center.  Over the past fifteen years the Center has developed an expertise in freight and logistics through several prominent national projects including Advantage I-75, Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks, the North American Transportation Security Center, various commodity flow analyses, and development of Fedtrak.  Recent work in the area of inland waterway analysis and sustainability are also being aligned with multiple freight and logistics opportunities among the surface transportation modes.  The Freight and Logistics program area provides research capabilities including: 1) supply chain management, 2) transportation logistics, 3) freight capacity analysis, 4) environment and sustainability, and 5) and hazardous materials security.
