The Pavement Design research area at the Kentucky Transportation Center provides implementation guidelines for pavement design methods for both asphalt and concrete pavements -- including thickness design and life cycle cost analysis. The Pavement Design research section also provides evaluations of pavement design methods and projects already complete. Recent research includes the implementation and calibration of the AASHTO Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG), an evaluation of structural contribution of geogrids and geosynthetics within the pavement structure, and an evaluation of pavement subsurface drainage. |
