Current Position

Director of Technology Transfer at the Kentucky Transportation Center, University of Kentucky. Responsible for planning, managing, and implementing the Program, with a staff of seven full-time employees and currently one part-time student worker.


Skills and Abilities

Program development and customer-driven service delivery. As a manager in government, nonprofit institutions, and academia, uses a common-sense approach and teamwork to bring consensus from diversity and arrive at practical solutions. She has a strong sense of purpose and commitment to public service.

Professional Experience

University of Kentucky: The Kentucky Transportation Center is a self-supporting research and service department of the College of Engineering. Began employment with the Center in 1980 and, since 1987, has directed the service component, known as the Technology Transfer Unit, a $750,000 program of training and technical assistance for the transportation community with emphasis on local and state governments' needs.

Federal Highway Administration: While employed by the University, in 1992-93, conducted research for the Federal Highway Administration under an intergovernmental loan arrangement. Analyzed and documented national benefits of the FHWA's Local Technical Assistance Program.

Council of State Governments: In 1969, left state government to work with the Council, which is a service and research organization benefiting the fifty states. Major responsibilities included grantsmanship, policy research, and directing the activities of national associations of government officials such as purchasing officials, budget directors, governors, and lieutenant governors.

Education

Fugazzi Business College, Lexington, KY; public administration, public speaking, human relations, and people management training through evening classes, workshops and seminars.
