Basis of Course

The Level II Traffic Signal Technician Certification course is a two-day course designed for bench technicians, trouble-shooting personnel and electricians. The purpose of the program is to ensure that individuals have an understanding of operations, installation, maintenance and repair of traffic control equipment. Contents of the course are as follows:

 Traffic Signal Supports
 
Inside the Controller Cabinet
 Traffic Signal Phasing
 Vehicle Detection
 Basic Signal Timing Concepts
 Traffic Signal Preemption
 Closed-loop Systems
 Traffic Signal Inspection
 The National Electrical Code and The National Electrical Safety Code
 Electronics Toubleshooting
 Electro-mechanical Controllers

It requires an in-depth understanding of technical bench repair as well as familiarity with field related operations.

Each participant must have attained Level I traffic signal certification and completed at least two years of experience within the traffic signal field.

Who Should Attend

Any local, state, or private employee wishing to obtain certification in Traffic Signal Technician.

Registration and Fee
The registration fee is $400 for state and private agencies and $200 for local government employees. This fee includes materials, training and testing. State employees wishing to register need to contact their District Training Coordinator. All others may register online (click dates below), by phone (859-257-4513 x230), or by fax (859-257-1061). Please register early since class size is limited.

Training Dates & Locations
IMSA Level II classes will be scheduled this fall.
